Street play on 'In Search of Happiness' 

Happiness is that feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you can't help but smile. Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. When people are successful, or safe, or lucky, they feel happiness. Different people feel happiness for different reasons. No one ever complains about feeling too much happiness. But they do when not in a state of well being. Today's Generation is so busy in the virtual reality forgetting about the present. Harsh but true- people have time to post on face book , have time to update status on what's app  and currently they are present on all social networking sites, but if you ask them to give time to family..No time they are extremely "busy". 

So, to show the current scenario of the world, Student leaders of PYP presented a street play on 'In Search of Happiness' wherein they portrayed the different unhappy situations that people experience and the different ways in which these situations can be avoided, by Spreading  Happiness. 

PRACTISE SESSION 

Indian culture, is one of the most beautiful  and cherished in the world.  Our empathy and other wonderful aspects are imbibed and learnt all over the world.
The street play which the students performed,  brought out all the above amply through three scenes which gave a glimpse of how today happiness is slowly reducing and creeping in is loneliness, depression, intolerance, bullying, selfishness and all this leading to stress. The students did an outstanding performance and garnered much appreciation and applause.
The bottom line was 'We in India are Ambassadors of Happiness'. Let us, every moment spread happiness and make our country number one in Happiness.

Skype session with a school in Pakistan

The students of Grade 5 had a Skype session with a school in Pakistan. They exchanged information about the culture, customs, traditions,  food habits, sports, weather conditions and the famous personalities of their own country.

Pen - pal / E -pal writing

Mst. Jayaan Bhurani from NES International School Mumbai shared his Indian culture and celebration with his friend Mst. Runveer Chandnani in Los Angeles United States of America

Mst. Daksh Bhinde from Grade 3 had a culture exchange - pen pal writing with his friend Hardik in USA. Hardik replied to same by sharing the culture that is followed in USA.

Ms. Tvisha Vinod from Grade 3 had an audio Whatsapp conversation with her friend Dev in Dubai about Indian festival (Diwali) and he discussed about Ramadan potraying Muslim culture.

Mst. Vivaan Chawan from Grade 3 discussed about the different cultural events held at school with his friend Neel Chawan in USA where he discussed about the same in his school.

Sharing of Folk Stories by Grandparents

           Stories form an integral part of a child’s life. It is believed that grandparents are the best story tellers. So, we invited grandparents from grades 3, 4 and 5 to be a part of this project which helped our students to learn by way of story-telling session with grandparents.
           It was delightful to witness the grandparents narrate stories to children with such fervor and enthusiasm. The children were overjoyed to have their grandparents narrate stories at school. They shared their folk stories related to their tradition and personal experience.

Mr. Bharat Kothari narrated a Gujarati Folk

Mr. Kishan Doshi narrated a folk story .
Moral: Self confidence is the first requisite to
great understandings.

Mr. Tarachand Gosar narrated a folk story.

Moral: Perfection exists not in doing extra-ordinary things, but in doing ordinary things in an extra - ordinarily well.

Culture Exchange Session

Culture Exchange Session
Cultural exchanges provide an opportunity to explore other cultures, traditions, customs, beliefs, societies, languages and much more. Hence, such opportunities make you view the world with a different lens. This provides alternative perspectives! It broadens one's horizons and increases the tendency of acceptance.

 Student leaders of grade 3 had an interactive Skype session with grade 3 students of Angles International College, Faislabad, Pakistan. Session started with National Anthem of both the countries followed by sharing of traditional food, festivals, and attire. After they exchanged their culture they had question answer session.

Culture exchange with Regional multicultural magnet school connecticut USA

We tried to collaborate with the Regional multicultural magnet school COnnecticut (U.S.A) but because of different time zones skype session was not possible so we recorded and shared videos.

Flipgrid

Flipgrid videos were made by the students. These videos initiated the process of culture exchange. At the personal level, students gained confidence. They also provided feedback to each other.-https://flipgrid.com/cc970e78

Students provided feedback to each other about the knowledge exchanged through the videos.

At this stage grandparents were also involved, as they are a rich source of knowledge.

Folk stories by teachers

Sharing Cultural ideas to infuse ethical values in upcoming generation....

Stories provide an important medium to create visual effect through which learning process improves drastically. In order to inculcate moral values, humanity and principles in 21st generation, teachers played a significant role by sharing the stories related to their culture. It evoked the spirit of human connection and emotion among the student-leaders of PYP.

Sparrow and Crow

 The story enlightened the student-leaders to work collaboratively in team. It taught them a lesson of only bearing fruit of the contribution they have provided for particular deed.

Akbar Birbal

The most prominent characters of Indian stories, Akbar and Birbal led the student-leaders of PYP to understand the importance of being clever, but not cunning.

The clever wife

This story narration passed on the message of being honest, hardworking and truthful. It also awakening moment for the student-leaders to be ready as they will have to face upcoming targets.

Significance of Navratri

The story helped in connecting humanity to their cultural background and provided an insight to the significance of celebrating the festival of "Navratri".

Dying for Dosa

This humorous story's moral value was "Never be greedy and senseless".  

Adam and Eve

God's first creation has rendered utmost important message and value to their future children to remember and follow. Student-leaders realized the importance of following universal rules.

Skype sessions with an Australian school

As a part of the Cultural Exchange Programme  NESISM students of Grade 5 had a Mystery Skype Session  with Mount Scopus  Australian School Grade 5 students. 

Since it was a Mystery Skype, the students were not aware about the name and location of the students / school that they were going to talk to. The students had to ask questions to each other in order to gather information about each other and then come to a consensus about where the school is located and which school is it. In this information exchange the students asked each other questions related to the topography of the place, the kind of dressing the students wear, the climate of the place and food.

Cultural talent parade

The Cultural Talent parade aims at providing facilities to outstanding young children to develop their talents in various cultural fields such as traditional forms of music, dance, drama as well as painting, sculpture, crafts and literary activities. The cultural talent parade also focuses on exchanging as well as learning of various cultures. Student leaders of grade 3,4 and 5 showcased their talents during the cultural talent parade.

 International-mindedness

  International-mindedness is the ability to be receptive to a multitude of ideas and cognizant of various experiences worldwide.Multi-nationalism and respect for cultural diversity are also key components of global harmony.Students of grade 3,4 and 5 truly took ownership of a concept only by doing and experiencing it in practical terms.

Exchange of culture

Indian culture varies like its vast geography. People speak in different languages, dress differently, follow different religions, eat different food but are of the same temperament. students belonging to various culture and tradition were dressed up according to their culture and they also shared about their culture and tradition to their fellow friends.
